Stupid By Association

I made the mistake yesterday of reading the column of Julia O'Malley, Poetess Laureate of the new, slimmed-down Daily News. [What exactly is her position, anyway? She writes "local flavor" type columns with lots of opinion, but there they are in the middle of the news section, treated like any other straight news article ...). This was such an impressively dim collection of jumbled thoughts it's hard to know where to begin...
